Lenten Book Study – “Wisdom Distilled from the Daily”
Begins February 22
This year’s Lenten book study invites us into a conversation across centuries as we read "Wisdom Distilled from the Daily" by Joan Chittister. This wise and accessible book asks an important question: how might a fifth-century spiritual text still speak meaningfully to our lives today?
We will explore what Benedictine spirituality teaches us about community, balance, humility, hospitality, prayer, and the sacredness of everyday life. Far from being a dry relic of monastic history, the Rule of Saint Benedict offers practical guidance for living thoughtfully and compassionately with one another in a complex, fast-paced world.
Joan Chittister is a Benedictine sister, theologian, and internationally respected voice on spirituality, social justice, and contemporary religious life. Known for her clarity, courage, and pastoral wisdom, she has authored dozens of books that bridge ancient tradition and modern experience.
This Lenten season, come to reflect, question, and listen together as we discern what “the wisdom of the daily” might mean for our own lives and our shared life as a community.
