December 28 Worship

  • Colonial Church in Prairie Village 7039 Mission Road Prairie Village United States (map)

We will have one service at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 28. There will not be an 8:30 service.

The first Sunday after Christmas is often a joyful day. Christ has come! The wait is over! Joy to the world! However, despite our desire to linger in that good news, the Gospel of Matthew brings us back to the ground. Through the story of Herod’s persecution, we are promptly reminded that even with Christ among us, the world is still a broken and messy place.

Our worship setup will be a bit unique as we will worship around tables in the Social Hall. Instead of facing the front, we will face one another. Instead of listening to one person do a lot of talking, we’re going to listen to each other. And the reason we are doing all of this is because the last Sunday of the year deserves something special. So this morning we will break bread and sing. We will pray and listen. We will gather together, and God will meet us here, for surely God is in this space.

Rev. Kelly Hansen will lead worship. Sweet breads will be available during the service as we break bread.
