  • United Church of Christ

    As part of the United Church of Christ, Colonial Church covenants with both the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference and the national setting in a variety of ways. We share a commitment to be a Just Peace and Open and Affirming church community. Our ministers are ordained, or hold standing, in this tradition that dates back to the Pilgrims arriving in Massachusetts. Colonial Church supports the four annual specials offerings (One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen the Church, Neighbors in Need, and The Christmas Fund.

  • Kansas Interfaith Action (KIFA)

    For justice work in Kansas, Colonial Church in partnership with the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference of the United Church of Christ, work with Kansas Interfaith Action (KIFA). A local chapter of KIFA meets online monthly to plan events and actions.

  • Artists Helping the Homeless

    Artists Helping the Homeless was founded by Colonial Church’s Kar Woo. AHH is on the streets of the Kansas City metro area each night safely transporting homeless people. Additionally, AHH operates shelters. In addition to financial support, each month people from Colonial Church serve a Sunday dinner on the Plaza.

  • Cross-lines Community Outreach

    Cross-Lines provides people in the Kansas City Area affected by poverty with services and opportunities that encourage self-confidence, meet the needs of today, and provide tools for future self-sufficiency. Colonial Church supports Cross-lines in a variety of ways, including providing housewares for the Christmas Store, Thanksgiving meals, and more.

  • Bread for the World

    Bread for the World is a Christian effort to end hunger by organizing and advocating in various ways. Each year, Colonial Church participates in a letter writing campaign advocating for policies to feed people in this nation.

  • Green Faith

    Green Faith organizes faith communities around the world to to protect the planet and create a compassionate, loving and just world. Colonial Church participates in various activities with Green Faith each year.

  • The Dialogue Institute of Kansas City

    The Dialogue Institute of Kanas City promotes mutual understanding, respect and cooperation among people of diverse faiths and cultures by creating opportunities for direct communication and meaningful shared experiences. Colonial Church promotes events throughout the year, particularly our shared iftar meal during Ramadan.

  • Pothawira (Malawi Project)

    Colonial Church has a long relationship with Pothawira, a village in Malawi. We’ve worked to provide safe water, which led to an orphanage for children with HIV, and a clinic. We are looking into a visit in 2023.

  • Eden Theological Seminary

    Eden Theological Seminary is committed to strengthening the life of the church in community by making accredited, accessible and affordable theological education available to all who seek to engage critically the call to faith formation, while supporting the Progressive Christian Movement, in a radically inclusive learning environment rooted in justice. Many of Colonial Church’s ministers were trained at Eden, and we continue our support of their work.

  • Fair Trade Campaigns

    Fair Trade Campaigns is a powerful grassroots movement mobilizing thousands of conscious consumers and Fair Trade advocates on campuses and communities across the USA. Colonial Church is part of this global effort to normalize Fair Trade as an institutional practice and consumer preference across 30 countries and on six continents. We offer Equal Exchange coffee and chocolate for sale at the church, and promote fair trade among the community

  • Veronica's Voice

    Veronica’s Voice empowers women who have been sexually exploited in a variety of ways with shelter, counseling, and support. Veronica’s voice also sponsors BigSearch KC which finds many missing children in our area.

  • Food Pantries

    Every week, Colonial Church fills up “The Little Red Wagon” with food to share through the Catholic Charities Pantry, Village Church Pantry, and Shawnee Community Center Food Pantry. Additionally, we take donations to support and have people in our church community volunteer regularly.

  • Arts in Prison

    Arts in Prison facilitates personal growth through the arts for the incarcerated and their families. Colonial Church supports Arts in Prison financially.

  • ​Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR)

    AIRR supports and empowers the undocumented immigrant community in the greater Kansas City area. As a network of faith communities, the AIRR network provides tools and resources for people to be able to navigate their lives with confidence and pride. No person should live in fear of being torn apart from their family or home.

  • Operation Breakthrough

    Each year during the Christmas season working with Operation Breakthrough, Colonial Church households provide gifts for children in poverty in our area.

  • Wyandotte County Early Head Start

    Each year, Colonial Church does a drive to help provide toothbrushes and toothpaste to kids in Head Start.

  • Interfaith Hospitality Network

    The Interfaith Hospitality Network uses religious facilities to house homeless people across the nation. In Johnson county, Colonial Church partners with IHN in this effort. One of the important jobs we will is overnight safety for guests.

  • Good Faith Network

    Good Faith Network is an interfaith organization of 30 congregations across Johnson County that organizes and uses their voice to advocate for change in some of our community's pressing issues. The active campaigns right now are: Mental Health Crisis Care, Ending Homelessness and Lack of Affordable Housing.
