Gathering Sunday Picnic and Pastor Aaron's Installation on Sept. 12

On Sunday, Sept. 12, we will gather for our traditional family picnic at Meadowlake Park, 2900 W. 79th, to kick off our church year. This year we will also install Pastor Aaron Roberts as our new minister during the festivities. Pastor Aaron asked the Council to include his installation as part of the celebration at the park so save the date! Following the 10:00 a.m. worship service, we will head to the park for a picnic. Following lunch, Pastor Aaron will be officially installed as Colonial’s senior minister. Please bring a dish to share. The Board of Parish Life will provide the meat. Because we will have extra guests because of the installation, make your dish a little larger size this year.

Love Language Discussion Group

What is your love language? Do you jump for joy when a loved one helps around the house? Does your child burst with pride after receiving a compliment from you? Are you desirous of bridging the generation gap with your teenager without texting? Please join the Board of Christian Education in reading The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts by Gary Chapman. He wrote the book in 1992 and since then has written several more focusing on children, teenagers and singles. Many teachers have taken classes to study this book and learn how to connect with students. Pastor Aaron will preach sermons during the month of September based on this book. Please join us every Sunday in September at 9:00 a.m. in the Social Hall to discuss this book. We will all benefit from these discussions about Pastor Aaron’s sermons and discover what our love language is. More importantly, we will learn how to speak the love language of our family members.
