Usher for The Nutcracker

See a beautiful production of “The Nutcracker” by the Kansas City Ballet and help send our youth to Esperanza, the work trip to Mexico in June 2009. We need volunteers to usher on Friday, Dec. 19. We will be taking tickets and ushering for The Nutcracker at the Music Hall, 13th and Central. We need 25 people. Please help us raise the funds to send our youth on this worthwhile work trip next summer. We need to be ready for instructions at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. performance. Sign up in the narthex or email Cindy Lafferty (laf5526@aol.com) if you can help.

Social Security Series

The Board of Christian Education will be conducting a three-part series on Social Security benefits. All three sessions will be on Sundays in the Heritage Room following the 10:00 a.m. service. The first session, on November 16, will provide an overview of how the system works and address concerns about long-term financing. On November 30, we will discuss retirement benefits and planning. On December 7, the topic will be disability benefits. Ancel Neuburger, who was the manager of the Social Security Office in Topeka until he retired in December 2007, will facilitate this series and provide ample opportunity for questions. Feel free to invite relatives and friends who have an interest in this timely topic.
